Top 5 Friday // Glasgow Wedding Venues

Following on from the inaugural #weddingwednesday post earlier this week, today kicks off Top 5 Friday Season. A look at some of my favourite things, some of my least favourite things, some wedding related things and some totally unrelated things. There will be lots of things, and there will always be 5 of them, on a Friday. So you see where the name came from.

Anyway, first up...

Top 5 Glasgow Wedding Venues

If you

wanna

find love

then you know where the city is

I live for the city. I live in Glasgow and feel more at home here than anywhere else I know. There's a vibrancy that I love. Each corner holds another surprise in a place that's always changing. I love that when daylight fades the citylight takes over and brings a whole new dimension to a wedding day. Most of this list is Glasgow based, and all of it is Scottish, and that reflects where I spend most of my time. There are many, many more awesome spots out there. These are just a few of my favourites...

1. The Glue Factory

This is one of my desert island wedding venues. A pretty new venue, in an old space, it's brimming with character and so many places to explore for photographs. The industrial feel won't be for everyone, but if a full on DIY extravaganza sounds up your street, check this place out. I love it!

There is loads of space to have your service in one area, dinner in another before heading downstairs for your party. The staff are great and the place is a blank canvas for you to make it entirely your own.

2. Pollokshields Burgh Hall

South of the river, Pollokshields Burgh Hall sits on the edge of Maxwell Park. It's a beautifully kept hall with plenty of scope for bringing your own personality into your wedding.

Obviously being right on the park, there's plenty of space for some photographs outdoors, and you can move around the full venue while the main room is turned around from service to dinner to party.

3. St Andrews In The Square

Right in the heart of Glasgow, a stones throw from the cross, and right by Glasgow Green, this place is great. It makes for an easy flowing day with guests heading upstairs while the brilliant staff turn the room around. An old church, the decor (especially the ceiling) are crazy cool. Just don't try and get in the pulpit, or you might get shouted at!

4. The Ubiquitous Chip

Things don't get much more west end than Ashton Lane, and things don't get much more Ashton Lane than the Ubiquitous Chip. This is an institution. And the food is phenomenal. It's pretty small, but full of charm and of course, the surroundings are brilliant for capturing Glasgow.

5. 29 Members Club

You're not going to get more central than this for your city wedding. One of my all time favourites as we're spoiled for choice when it comes to photo time. Heading out in to the city can seem a bit daunting, especially when the buskers try and play anything wedding related, but it's really good fun.

Like the other venues on here, the staff smash it here, every time. They run the day well and make great use of the space. It's also a great place to be if it rains with so many areas inside the venue being so photogenic.

And just a few more...

SWG3

A super cool, multi-use warehouse space near Finnieston. Also, totally banging rooftop for photo time!

City Halls / Old Fruitmarket

More often used for concerts, this old building in the heart of the Merchant City has heaps of character and some sweet photo ops in the streets around it.

One Devonshire Gardens

A hotel deep in the west end, with some awesome history. Loads of great options for photos in the lanes around the hotel for a classic west end look.

Hopefully this little look at some Glasgow venues give you some inspiration if you're venue hunting, or looking for ideas for photo locations or ideas around a venue that you've already booked.

Inevitably, there are loads that I've missed here, I'd love to hear what some of your favourites are? Also let me know what or who else you'd like to see on future #top5friday posts.
